Manu Lanvin surrounds himself with Charlélie Couture, Axel Bauer, Popa Chubby and many other exceptional artists to pay tribute to Calvin Russell! In 2022, the Traverse de Cléon, a temple of Anglo-Saxon music, asked Manu Lanvin to orchestrate and pay tribute to his friend Calvin Russell, a Texan artist who disappeared in 2011, but also an essential songwriter of the blues rock scene in France and Europe.
In just a few days, the ticketing was sold out, reflecting how well this charismatic character with simple melodies and poignant texts was still well inscribed in the heart of the French.
It is from the success of this concert that the idea of concretizing a tribute album matured, surrounded by guests from various backgrounds, some having known Calvin, others discovered. From Charlélie Couture to Popa Chubby, via Axel Bauer, Gérard Lanvin, Johnny Gallagher, Hugh Coltman, Théo Charaf or Beverly Jo Scott, Craig Walker, Fred Chapellier, David Minster, Neal Black, Boney Fields and Haylen, all responded to Manu Lanvin's invitation to revive this repertoire at the crossroads of blues, rock and country.
